The Dixie Lee concept has been designed to meet the consumers' demand for fast economical meals. Statistics Canada figures reveal that in the chicken business a high percentage of the food purchased at chicken outlets is taken home. Dixie Lee has established three concepts:

1.         a take-out unit which ranges in size from 800 to 1000 square feet
2.         a take-out with convenience seating unit which can range in size from 1500 to 2000 square feet
3.         a Dixie Lee family restaurant which ranges in size between 1800-2500 square feet

In some cases, it is feasible to only offer a take-out unit, whereas in other cases the seating can be beneficial. Your Franchisor will assist you in determining what type of unit is best suited for the location you are looking at.

Dixie Lee has devised a location strategy to target neighborhood plaza locations, from research based on the success of small convenience stores. These convenience stores have demonstrated that price is often secondary to convenience. However, with the purchasing power of Dixie Lee, both convenience and competitive prices are provided.


ESTIMATED START UP COST
The estimated cost of setting up a Dixie Lee Franchise will range from as low as $150,000. to as high as $295,000. The chartered banks will require a minimum investment of approximately $35,000 in cash from the franchisee in order to consider a loan application.

These figures include a complete equipment package, franchisee fees and leasehold improvements. The variable cost of getting started will depend upon the amount of leasehold improvements required. As a result of our vast experience in negotiating leases, we are able to keep the rents paid by our franchisees as low as possible. Once a specific site is chosen, we can calculate a more exact cost for a Dixie Lee set up. All details pertaining to government assistance and financing will be discussed at our initial meeting.

In these two weeks you will be taught the entire system of operating a Dixie Lee Franchised Store. You will learn tasks such as stock control, bookkeeping, staff management, and marketing. Refresher courses are also available should you feel that you require additional training at a later date.The following will be provided to ensure that you have complete control of your business at your store opening:

  • an approved site and protected territory
  • an established, promoted name
  • a specific layout and design of your store
  • the overseeing of construction
  • arrangements for the necessary supplies for your opening
  • arrangements for credit terms with suppliers
  • experienced personnel available for opening week
  • bookkeeping systems set up
  • assistance in: arranging for contractors, ordering the equipment, and providing the grand opening advertising
