The History of Dixie Lee
Dixie Lee was founded in Belleville, Ontario in 1964 and has been a part of the food services industry in Canada for more than forty years. The concept was initially marketed as supplementary food items to existing restaurants. Dixie Lee began selling franchises on July 21st, 1988.

Mr. David Silvester started in the business in 1970 as an owner/operator of a single Dixie Lee outlet in Castlegar, British Columbia. He then acquired a Dixie Lee Area Franchise for British Columbia, where after developing this province he was successful in purchasing the Dixie Lee franchise parent company in 1979. This facilitated Mr. Silvesters move to Dixie Lee Head Office in Belleville, Ontario. Mr. Silvester was responsible for developing Dixie Lee from 8 to more than 35 stores in Ontario by 1987. In April, 2007 Mr. Joe Murano took over as President of Dixie Lee, with experience in the area of franchising which spans over 30 years. As the President of Dixie Lee, Mr. Murano's experience provides the company with a very promising outlook for the future.
In Canada the Head Office is made up of two divisions. In Eastern Canada the stores are managed by Dixie Lee Maritimes Ltd. and the rest of Canada and the U.S.A. is operated by Dixie Lee Food Systems Ltd. In the U.S.A. the company name of Dixie Lee is Dixie Lee Food Systems (U.S.A.) Ltd. This company is owned and operated by the parent company.
Dixie Lee Food Systems Ltd. is an all Canadian Franchise Company with over 70 franchised outlets from coast to coast. All locations provide high quality food products at economical prices with a strong emphasis on fast, friendly service.
